ANÁLISE: O que esperar dos Boston Celtics em 2018-19?

O orgulho dos Boston Celtics durou toda a temporada e mesmo tendo perdido Gordon Hayward cinco minutos após a sua estreia pelos Celtics e Irving no final da temporada regular, eles chegaram á final da Conferência Este – dadas as circunstâncias, uma temporada notável! Parte dessa temporada é devido a Jayson Tatum, o Rookie cuja maturidade e desenvolvimento foram pressionados pela necessidade. Tatum, foi convidado para ganhar jogos e assumir o volume de pontuação – ele aceitou o desafio e cumpriu! No entanto, era uma tarefa insuficiente para um homem só. Al Horford era All-Star, Jaylen Brown deu um salto no seu segundo ano e Terry Rozier jogou admiravelmente nos Playoffs como substituto do base de Kyrie Irving.

A offseason foi tudo sobre Hayward e Irving ficarem saudáveis. Nada mais, nada menos!

Claro, houve um flerte com os Spurs sobre a obtênção de Kawhi Leonard, principalmente porque os Celtics têm ativos – Jovens jogadores em contratos e escolhas baratas. Essas conversas não levaram a nada e infelizmente para Boston, Kawhi desenbarcou em Toronto, um dos candidatos ao título da Conferência Este.

Mas perder Kawhi não foi particularmente prejudicial para os Celtics. Eles não precisavam desesperadamente dele, e de qualquer forma, por que sacrificar alguém com Jayson Tatum, que assinou por mais alguns anos num acordo amigável para a equipa, ou mesmo Brown?

Devido a isso, não é de ficar surpreendido que os Celtics suportem algumas dores de cabeça nesta fase inicial, mesmo com o treino de Brad Stevens. Mas com um núcleo saudável e LeBron na outra Conferência, os Este é de Boston!
