Boston Celtics: E agora qual o 5 inicial?

Quem seguiu a temporada passada dos Boston Celtics, sabe, que a temporada não correu como planeado. Gordon Hayward foi o primeiro a sair de plano após pouco mais de 5 minutos de jogo. Kyrie Irving termina a temporada em meados de Março. Daniel Theis, pois depois de começar a temporada deixa de poder dar contribuito á equipa e Smart, perde mais de 30 jogos da temporada.

Temporada essa, que começou como promessa, mas mal teria começado a época e já os planos tinham ido por água abaixo.

Mas algo algo engraçado aconteceu ao longo do caminho.

Jayden Brown e Jayson Tatum cresceram! Terry Rozier destacou-se com titular e Al Horford faz uma excelente temporada. Vários veteranos fizeram uma época acima do esperado. Deixou-se de lamentar o sucedido às suas figuras principais e começou-se a delinear a sua presença ana Final da NBA.

Estamos á menos de 1 mês de ver os Celtics de 2018-19 no seu campo de treino com a equipa quase intacta desde o playoff da temporada passada (2017-18). Obviamente, reforçada com os regressos de Irving e Hayward o que leva agora á especulação:

  • Qual será a equipa titular e como vai ser feita a rotação da equipa com o regresso das super estrelas, tendo em conta que os outros jogadores cresceram?

Mas, não tem de ser de todo um mau problema até porque Stevens parece ser o tipo de líder moderado capaz de navegar em águas mais agitadas.

Mas uma coisa é certa, a equipa da temporada passada surpreendeu pela positiva criando uma base sólida com rotação e juntando agora mais qualidade nas suas opções, certamente será uma das equipa mais fortes da NBA e sem dúvida candidato sério a vencer o título!

Olhando para os cinco jogadores da época passada que mais vezes jogaram, podemos ver com quais Boston deve continuar a apostar.

Al Horford, Aron Baynes, Kyrie Irving, Jayson Tatum e Jaylen Brown.

Estes foram os 5 homens mais usados na temporada passada. Eles jogaram mais do dobro de minutos que qualquer outro 5 inicial que Stevens apresentou.  Em 354 minutos jogados ao longo de 36 partidas, este grupo superou os adversários em 11,9 pontos por cada 100 posses de bola. Fizeram isso aproveitando um excelente ataque, já que fizeram uma média de lançamentos de 50,7% no total. A defesa foi sólida, ficando apenas atrás de equipas com melhores jogadores.

Este 5 foi a segunda linha mais usada com 154 minutos no total. Foi também a equipa com que mais vezes terminava os jogos de Boston. Eles lançaram 33 tentativas de três pontos por cada 100 posses de bola, com uma taxa de acerto de 34%. Não é horrível, mas não tão bom quanto alguns outros grupos da equipa. Com Smart em campo, é esperado que a média baixe. Mas surpreendente é que este grupo teve uma das melhores taxas da linha de lance livre, obtendo uma média de 28,3 lances livres a cada 100 posses de bola, sempre que jogaram juntos.

Pode chamar-se de equipa pós Kyrie Irving. Em minutos extremamente limitados ao longo da temporada regular (25 minutos ao longo de 11 jogos), este grupo apresentou bons números, superando os seus adversários em 38 pontos por 100 posses de bola. Jogaram mais tempo juntos nos playoffs, com 34 minutos jogados em 11 jogos e os resultados foram semelhantes. Estes foram os 5 homens com melhor registo defensivo que os Celtics tiveram dentro do campo, mas a nível de ataque, foi horrível.

Com Kyrie Irving e Gordon Hayward de volta, é improvável que este grupo de 5 homens feche muitos jogos na próxima temporada 18-19.

 

Uma coisa é certa, os Celtics vão querer muito mais que ganhar mais de metade dos jogos da temporada com foi objetivo na época passada. Tendo em conta os recursos que tinha após as lesões dos seus melhores atletas e mesmo assim a brilhante campanha que fez, com a chegada deles e mantendo a equipa saúdavel, vão certamente ter argumentos suficientes para atacar o tão desejado anél.
